Artwork Story

Exhibited Laguna Art Museum 1998-9 "Life Lessons: How Art Can Change Your Life"

Judith Spence

You can read something about this and the other Boskovich works in the lecture (see Stories, What I Learned...) in the section on "Narcissism", keeping in mind that I don't mean "narcisissm" in the unhealthy, self-involved, grandiose sense. I'm referring to the healthy side of "narcissism" which is about knowing who and how you are. The text added to this "found" painting makes you laugh, but like all jokes, it's also very serious. "Found" seems like a witticism about how random the search for self-awareness can be. When what we come upon is disaster, we can't just settle it down. This also connects with Meg Cranston's Inconsolable.
