"4 panels, same picture 2 men w fish, var. colors"
Donated to Laguna Art Museum in 1999 as one of 109 works
Exhibited Laguna Art Museum 1998-9 "Life Lessons: How Art Can Change Your Life"
Look at these photo-silk-screened canvases and think Andy Warhol. The picture of a now dead cultural hero and his trophy (see Stecyk's Fish Tale) are both representatives of a macho tradition which if not dead is no longer the ideal of masculinity. They are surrounded by commercial symbols from Japan which reflect the now-hybridized Pacific Rim culture. Japan had to recast its warlike cultural identity to take a powerful role in the postwar global economy. And of course recent events have seen that change, too.
