If we use photographs to embroider our memories (see Poyourow), we also use rhetoric to distance from our actual histories. The only reason this is not in the Viewer Discretion room is that the ceiling was not high enough. The gap between lofty patriotic slogans and these real-life horrors is the worst obscenity.
